Budi95: Ceiling limit for e-hailing, gig workers retained, says Anwar

PETALING JAYA: The ceiling limit for subsidised RON95 petrol at RM1.99 per litre for e-hailing and gig workers under Budi95 will be retained at 800 litres per month, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister said this decision was made taking into account the nature of their work.

"We maintain the ceiling limit of up to 800 litres taking into account their responsibilities, their jobs and the work they do," he said during a special address broadcast live on Thursday (March 26).

He also announced that the quota for subsidised RON95 petrol under Budi95 would be lowered to 200 litres per month, down from 300 litres previously.

Anwar said these measures were taken with careful consideration, with the people's welfare in mind.

"I sincerely ask for the public's understanding and cooperation for the steps we have been compelled to take in light of the pressures we face. I am aware there will be criticism, which is unavoidable.

"But rest assured, the government does not want the people to feel burdened. Every measure is taken with care and prudence.

"Many countries, including our neighbours, have increased fuel prices, Malaysia has chosen to maintain the subsidised RON95 price at RM1.99 through Budi95.

"This has provided significant benefits to the people. However, under current conditions, some adjustments are necessary," he said.
