AYER KEROH: Malaysia Agreement 1963 is not just a regional issue but a national agenda, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“I believe that if we want to succeed as a nation, peninsular Malaysia must work together hand in hand with Sabah and Sarawak. We have to progress together,” he said at the PKR National Congress here on Saturday(Aug 15).
“Our choice is to do the right thing, although we may not garner votes in the process. The right thing is justice for all and development for all….every single state in this country,” he added.
He, however, admitted that there is still room for improvement in the government's efforts in fulfilling the promises for the Malaysia Agreement 1963.
“Sarawak especially in the issue of PETROS and PETRONAS,” he said
Anwar said the allocation for Sabah has increased 35% since his government came into power, adding that this was the first administration that did not see the demands of Sabah and Sarawak as secondary.
He said greater attention had to be placed on the issues of the two states.
