AYER KEROH:The recent setbacks that PKR has faced should serve as lessons rather than an opportunity to grieve, says party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“It is a great congress. Usually, after a problem occurs, the congress becomes a space for us to grieve. I do not.
“I take this as a lesson. Yes, there are strengths and there are weaknesses. Trusting the wrong people, betrayal along the way — all of that happened, and we must learn from those experiences,” he said when addressing the party delegates at the PKR National Congress here on Saturday (Aug 15).
Anwar, who is also Prime Minister, said that whatever happens, “we must hold firm to our principles”.
The party congress comes at a time when PKR is grappling with the departure of former leaders, losing three parliamentary seats due to former MPs' resignations, and a streak of dismal showings in the recent Negri Sembilan and Johor state elections.
