Immigration system to go into maintenance from March 9 to 15

PETALING JAYA: The data migration and upgrading works for the immigration system will be carried out from March 9 to 15 to enhance the quality of immigration digital services.

The Home Ministry said the exercise would involve migrating data from the existing system to the National Immigration Integrated System (NIISe).

“During the maintenance period from 8pm to 4am daily, some immigration digital services may experience temporary access disruption,” the ministry said in a statement on Friday (March 6).

To minimise inconvenience to the public, the ministry said several measures have been put in place, including the activation of manual lanes and contingency procedures at entry points nationwide.

The measures are aimed at ensuring the smooth movement of travellers in and out of the country without compromising security, it said.

Real-time updates on the system status will also be made available through the ministry’s official website and social media platforms as well as those of The Imigration Department and the Malaysian Border Security and Protection Agency (AKPS).

Members of the public are advised to plan their immigration-related matters early and avoid online transactions throughout the maintenance period.

“The ministry assures that close monitoring will be carried out to ensure the system resumes full operation as soon as possible,” it said.

The ministry added that the initiative was part of the government’s continuous commitment to strengthening data security and improving the efficiency of immigration services to make the system more stable and user-friendly.
