BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD), Ministry of Home Affairs, continues to step up enforcement efforts to curb immigration offences nationwide through the continued implementation of ‘Operasi Kakas 2026’.
During ‘Operasi Kakas 86/2026’, enforcement officers inspected 13 foreign nationals at a market area in Mukim Sengkurong where seven were detained and brought to the Law Enforcement Division for investigation.
The individuals are believed to have committed an offence under Regulation 9(4) of the Immigration Regulations, Chapter 17, involving working while holding a visit pass.
Meanwhile, ‘Operasi Kakas 87/2026’ targeted rented rooms in Mukim Berakas ‘A’, where three foreign nationals were inspected.
Two were detained and brought to the Law Enforcement Division for investigation, as they are believed to have committed an offence under Regulation 9(4) of the Immigration Regulations, Chapter 17, for working while on a visit pass.
In ‘Operasi Kakas 88/2026’, enforcement officers inspected eight foreign nationals at a rented house in Mukim Berakas ‘A’, with six detained and referred to the Law Enforcement Division for investigation.
All six individuals failed to produce original documents. Preliminary investigations found that five of those detained were believed to have committed offences under Section 15(1) of the Immigration Act, Chapter 17, for overstaying in the country after their immigration passes had expired, as well as Regulation 15(2) of the Immigration Regulations, Chapter 17, for not working for their original employer.
Meanwhile, ‘Operasi Kakas 89/2026’ was carried out at a rented house in Mukim Berakas ‘B’, where the four foreign nationals inspected were found to possess valid documents and immigration passes.
