Bersatu leaders to meet Muhyiddin on Feb 8

IPOH: All Bersatu MPs, assemblymen and senators are understood to have received invitations to attend a meeting with party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Sinar Harian reports.

Sungai Manik assemblyman Datuk Zainol Fadzi Paharudin, who is among those invited, told the Malay language daily that the invitation was sent via an official letter delivered personally, and that the meeting is scheduled to be held at Muhyiddin’s residence on Sunday (Feb 8).

“I think all Bersatu MPs, assemblymen and senators received it, but I don’t think division-level leaders did — unless they are elected representatives.

“As for what Sunday’s meeting is about, I’m not sure because it wasn’t stated,” Zainol, who is also a member of Bersatu's supreme council, said.

Previously, several Bersatu division chiefs had issued statements criticising Muhyiddin’s leadership and calling for the party’s top leader to step down.

In addition, Bersatu supreme leadership council member Yunus Nurdin openly urged Muhyiddin to relinquish his post in the party, with his role to be assumed by deputy president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin.

At the same time, Bersatu information chief Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz hit back at Yunus, suggesting that it was Hamzah who should step down as the party’s deputy president.
