PETALING JAYA: PAS supports former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak filing an appeal against the High Court's dismissal of his bid for house arrest, as it is his right to do so.
PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said the party believed that the addendum order issue, which forms part of the direct decision of the previous Yang di-Pertuan Agong, must be accepted and implemented, and given immediate legal effect without judicial or administrative objection.

"It must be emphasised that constitutional principles must never be applied selectively based on differing political needs or individuals," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Dec 23).
"The Constitution does not recognise hierarchies or classes among the people, particularly in the exercise of royal pardon powers.
"Based on these principles, PAS fully supports Najib's right to file an appeal to a higher court, in line with the right of appeal as a fundamental guarantee and protection for every individual, which must be respected and allowed to proceed freely, fairly and without prejudice."

PAS also urges all branches of government and the relevant authorities to act courageously, transparently and faithfully in accordance with constitutional principles, so that justice may be upheld consistently and the dignity and sovereignty of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Rulers remain protected, he added.
Meanwhile, Pahang Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail criticised Puchong MP Yeo Bee Yin's remarks on Monday's (Dec 22) court ruling, describing them as arrogant and offensive to Najib's family and Umno.
Wan Rosdy, who is also an Umno vice-president, said court decisions should not be turned into a platform for cheap political triumphalism.

Celebrating the ruling with mockery and sarcasm only exposed the immaturity and absence of values of an elected representative, he said, as quoted by Berita Harian.
"If one wishes to build friendships, do so with manners and sincerity, not with empty ridicule that ultimately causes those who are so arrogant to drown in their own conceit," he added.
On Monday, DAP national publicity secretary Yeo said in a social media post that there was "another reason to celebrate this year end", accompanied by a link to a news article headlined "No house arrest for Najib".
Earlier that day, Kuala Lumpur High Court judge Justice Alice Loke had dismissed Najib's attempt for a judicial review allowing him to serve the remainder of his jail term in the SRC International Sdn Bhd case under house arrest.
