KUALA LUMPUR: Federal Territories PAS has begun preparing policy proposals for Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan, saying the initiative will form the basis of its future manifesto.
FT PAS commissioner Azhar Yahya said the chapter had asked its divisions to submit proposals, which would be refined into a manifesto under its "Wilayah Sejahtera" theme.
"Every state has held its convention. For this year’s convention, we discussed our offer (to the people) so that, in the coming year, the message is that we are ready," he said at the chapter’s convention on Sunday (Aug 23).
Azhar said the theme had been the focus of his leadership since his appointment, with grassroots members, branches and divisions contributing proposals based on issues in their respective areas.
"We are starting preparations to put forward a manifesto drawn from the grassroots, branches and divisions," he said.
He said the chapter wanted the proposals to be supported by detailed policy work and technical expertise.
FT PAS second deputy commissioner Dr Nazri Mansor said the divisions’ input had been consolidated into 12 resolutions.
He said the final resolution called for task forces comprising experts and technocrats to develop policies for each proposal.
"For affordable housing, for example, there will be a dedicated task force to study the matter with experts and technocrats so that a proper policy can be drafted," he said.
Dr Nazri said there would be 11 task forces, corresponding to the proposals eventually adopted.
Azhar said the party had previously undertaken similar work through its lajnah or committee structure, but the task forces would place greater emphasis on technical input.
"We have many technocrats. The detailed work will be carried out through these task forces together with our exco members," he said.
Dr Nazri said the chapter had also gathered public feedback through engagements, including on Facebook and TikTok.
