Melaka polls: PAS denies viral list of state election candidates

PETALING JAYA: PAS Melaka has strongly denied the circulation of information purportedly listing the party’s candidates for four state constituencies in the upcoming Melaka election.

PAS Melaka said the list was not official and described its circulation by irresponsible parties as potentially misleading to the public.

“PAS Melaka takes the actions of irresponsible parties seriously in circulating the material, which could confuse the public.

“The public is advised not to believe or share unverified information,” it said in a statement on Tuesday (Oct 6).

Earlier, a post on the Facebook account TV PAS Melaka went viral, purporting to show a list of candidates proposed by PAS to contest four state seats in the Melaka election.

The post claimed that the proposed candidates were Zulhilmi Suboh or Nor Faizal Nordin for Bemban, Al Hafiz Yahya for Bukit Katil, a candidate from the Melaka PAS Youth wing for Ayer Keroh, and Bakri Jamaluddin for Paya Rumput.

PAS Melaka said several social media pages carried narratives and content related to the party, including TV PAS Melaka and Melaka Kini.

It said the pages were not managed or supervised by the state party and did not represent its official channels.

“In this regard, all PAS members and supporters are urged not to follow or use these pages as sources of reference to avoid confusion, the spread of inaccurate information and narratives that do not represent the party’s official stance.

“Obtain verified and official information only through the official PAS Melaka website,” it said.
