Dessert fight derails wedding

A WEDDING in India descended into a brawl after the bride’s family found that rasgulla, a popular dessert from the eastern part of the South Asian subcontinent, ran out during the reception, Makkal Osai reported.

The incident took place in the Eastern Indian state of Bihar after the bride and her family arrived at the wedding venue and completed the pre-wedding rituals.

As they began to eat, some guests began complaining that they did not get the sweet Indian dumpling. The complaints turned into abuse and the bride’s relatives reportedly began throwing chairs and hitting people.

Despite people from both sides of the family getting injured, the groom’s family offered to continue with the wedding, but the bride’s family members called it off.

After the incident, the bride’s family filed a dowry abuse case against the groom’s family, who denied the accusation and accused the bride’s relatives of stealing some of the jewellery the groom’s family had brought as gifts.

Social media reacted to the incident by likening the brawl to the wedding massacre in the popular Game of Thrones fantasy TV series.
