Fire breaks out at recyclable materials site in Shah Alam’s Seksyen 36


SHAH ALAM: A fire involving a pile of recyclable materials broke out in an open area near a driving centre in Seksyen 36 here on Thursday (March 26).

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (Operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the department received an emergency call at 1.24pm.

“Firefighters from the Shah Alam station were dispatched to the scene, which is located near a driving centre along Jalan Nagasari, and arrived at 1.36pm.

“The fire involved a heap of recyclable materials covering about two acres in an open area. Extinguishing efforts are currently ongoing,” he said in a statement on Thursday (March 26).

He added that personnel from several stations, including Klang Selatan, Andalas, Pelabuhan Klang, Klang Utara and Bukit Jelutong, were mobilised to assist in the operation.

“A total of 31 personnel and multiple fire engines were deployed to contain the blaze. No casualties have been reported so far,” he said.
