Police seize RM1mil ketamine at Pangkor beach


IPOH: Police have seized about RM1mil worth of drugs at Pasir Bogak Beach in Pangkor.

Perak police chief Comm Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said officers found the drugs, believed to be ketamine, in a gunny sack on the beach after a public tip-off at about 9pm on Wednesday (March 25).

“Inside the sack, police found 20 plastic packages containing 20,200g of drugs believed to be ketamine.

“The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act,” he said in a statement on Thursday (March 26).

“Those convicted face the death penalty or life imprisonment and at least 12 strokes of the cane.

“The success of the operation was due to public cooperation,” he added.

Comm Noor Hisam said there would be no compromise with those involved in drug trafficking, possession or distribution.

“The police are committed to combating drugs for the sake of future generations.
