91 arrested in major drug bust in Kota Samarahan


KUCHING: Police have arrested 91 people for various drug offences during a narcotics operation in Kota Samarahan from Oct 20 to Nov 15.

Kota Samarahan police chief Supt Damataries Lautin said Ops Tapis Khas Narkotik also netted 55.77g of methamphetamine, 2.85g of Erimin 5 and 2g of Nospan pills.

"The seized drugs were estimated to be worth RM6,164.70 in total," he said in a statement on Monday (Nov 17).

Supt Damataries said the suspects had been charged in the Kota Samarahan court under various provisions of the Dangerous Drugs Act, including Sections 12(2), 15(1)(a), 39A(1) and 39A(2), as well as Section 30(3) of the Poisons Act.

"This success is the result of ongoing intelligence work and public cooperation," he said.

He said the public could convey information through Bukit Aman's Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) hotline at 012-208 7222 or the Sarawak NCID hotline at 017-592 9211.
