'Do I look worried?' – PM dismisses polls concerns, says focus is on running the country

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has brushed aside concerns over a string of looming elections, saying that his focus remains on governing the country and delivering results to the people.

"Why... do I look worried? I am just focusing on my job. The problem is some people do not think about these things.

"They should be focusing on their jobs," he told reporters at the Energy Transition Conference 2026 (ETCon26) here on Thursday (June 4).

Anwar was asked if he was worried about the upcoming elections and if they had distracted him.

Asked if the Johor state election was called unnecessarily, Anwar replied: "It is their decision."

"We have our own priorities. We focus on our work," he added.

The Johor Legislative Assembly was dissolved on Monday (June 1), paving the way for the 16th state polls.

Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi announced the dissolution of the state assembly after receiving the consent of the Johor Regent.
