Shafie in Senallang four-cornered fight

Hoping to hold on: Shafie seeks to retain his state seat of Senallang for a third term.

SEMPORNA: Parti Warisan president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal is seeking to retain his Senallang state seat for a third straight term, going up against three challengers in the state elections.

Arriving at the Semporna Community Centre yesterday, the former chief minister was greeted by a sea of Warisan supporters who walked with him in a show of force and solidarity.

Mohd Shafie described the four-cornered contest as a positive sign of a vibrant democracy, saying such competition should be respected and celebrated.

“This is Sabah’s democratic festival. Every candidate has the right to contest. What matters is our struggle for the people and ensuring Sabah’s future continues to be defended,” he said.

In 2020, he faced an even wider five-cornered contest for the same seat.

Mohd Shafie stressed that this election is one of the most crucial for Sabah, especially in safeguarding the state’s rights under MA63 and restoring integrity, economic direction and administrative stability.

He also thanked supporters, volunteers and the public for ensuring a smooth and peaceful nomination day.

Parti Warisan is contesting all 73 state seats.
