Ah Chin is the ‘well-grounded’ choice, says Dr Wee

Man of the community: Chin (right), Dr Wee (second from right) and other Barisan Nasional leaders presenting a unified front at the nomination centre in Sandakan.

SANDAKAN: Barisan Nasional has made the right choice in fielding a “true son of Sandakan” in Datuk Chin Kim Hiung to contest the Karamunting state seat, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The MCA president said Chin, or “Ah Chin” as he is known to locals, is well-grounded in the constituency and is the right person to represent the seat.

“Ah Chin is Barisan’s candidate who is a true son of Sandakan. He has always looked out for the people of Karamunting. He is the best choice,” Dr Wee said after accompanying Chin to the nomination centre yesterday.

He added that Chin, who is candidate No. 3 for Karamunting, has long been part of the community.

“For years, Ah Chin has walked the same streets, listened to the people’s concerns and shared their aspirations. His strength lies not in slogans, but in the trust he has earned,” he said.

He said Chin brings experience, sincerity and an understanding of the constituency’s needs.

Chin said the support from the Barisan and Umno machinery gives him confidence heading into the campaign.

“I am confident that with help from Barisan and Umno, we can secure victory in this state election.”

He pledged to prioritise long-standing local issues.

“I will work to resolve road, water supply and electricity problems. I hope voters will give their support to me,” he added.

Dr Wee reminded party workers to adhere to Election Commission rules, as well as taking care of their health throughout the campaign.

Also present during the nomination were several party leaders, including MCA Youth chief Ling Tian Soon, national organising secretary Datuk Leaw Kok Chan, deputy treasurer-general Datuk Adrian Lee and other Sabah MCA leaders.
