Musa’s sons set to fight an uphill battle


KOTA KINABALU: The sons of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Musa Aman are in a tough fight to win Sindumin and Sungai Manila.

Datuk Yamani Hafez, the eldest of the two is facing a 10-cornered fight for the seat.

He is contesting under the Pakatan Harapan banner and is facing challenge from Parti Warisan’s Yusri Pungut, Moktar Matussin (Sabah STAR), Parti KDM’s Sani Miasin, Perikatan Nasional’s Dayang Nor Syafiqah Abdul Hamid, three independents, and candidates from Parti Impian Sabah and Parti Kebangsaan Sabah.

When he was named the candidate for Pakatan, Yamani Hafez said this is not only an honour but also a bigger responsibility for him to fight for the rights of Sabahans and to help the people of Sindumin to have their voices heard.

In Sungai Manila, Musa’s younger son Hazem is facing a five-cornered fight.

Hazem hoped that voters would make sound judgments when voting for the person to represent their constituencies.

He said that being the son of the Sabah Governor should not influence support one way or the other.”

He pledged to drive development in the constituency if elected.

Aside from Hazem, other candidates for Sungai Manila are Irian Nanang (Parti Impian Sabah), Sittinara (Parti Warisan), Yusri Abu (Perikatan Nasional), Zaini Tiksun (Barisan Nasional) and Faizal Wahab (Parti Perpaduan Rakyat Sabah).
