Anwar to deliver National Day 'Amanat Perdana' on Aug 30

PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will deliver the 2026 National Day "Amanat Perdana" on Aug 30 to convey the aspirations and hopes of the Madani government leadership on the importance of embracing the spirit of independence and fostering patriotism among Malaysians.

Organised by the National Unity Ministry, the event will be held at Dataran Merdeka, with various programmes starting as early as 5pm, including the Merdeka Eve Animation Concert, World Festival of Lights, Gema Perpaduan Malaysia Madani cultural performance, a special Independence Musical segment and performances by leading local artistes.

National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang said the well-being that the country aspires to enjoy could not be achieved without strong unity.

"In a Malaysia rich in religious, cultural and linguistic diversity, as well as diverse customs and traditions, we must continue to cultivate an attitude of understanding, respect, acceptance and celebration.

"Let us continue to foster the spirit of mutual understanding, respect and acceptance of diversity, because it is through togetherness that Malaysia draws its strength to continue progressing in harmony and prosperity," he said in a statement Monday (Aug 24).

The National Unity Ministry, as the secretariat of the event, has also invited the public to attend the event at Dataran Merdeka to listen to Anwar's address, which will also be broadcast live on TV1 and the RTMKlik application from 9.30pm.

Themed "Malaysia Madani: Kesejahteraan Dinikmati", the 69th National Day celebration will be held at Dataran Putrajaya, with more than 80,000 visitors expected to attend. - Bernama
