A TEACHER in India has been suspended after she was filmed getting a foot massage from students in her classroom, Makkal Osai reported.

The woman, identified as Y. Sujatha, is a teacher at the rural Girijana Ashram Government Girls’ School in Bandapalli village.

The students there are mainly from impoverished tribal communities colloquially known as Girijanam or people of the hills.

The video, which went viral, shows Sujatha sitting on a chair with her feet up, talking on the phone while two schoolgirls massage her legs and feet.

When confronted, the teacher apparently tried to justify it by saying the students were just helping her as she was in discomfort from having to stand for long periods of time to teach.

The Integrated Tribal Development Agencies ordered her immediate and indefinite suspension while the matter was investigated.
