Drunk driver in fatal Klang crash to be charged today


KLANG: The man under investigation for the incident that resulted in a fatal crash on Jalan Raya Barat here was brought to the Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday (April 1).

The suspect, in his 20s and wearing a white collared T-shirt, arrived at 8.53am accompanied by police, according to Sinar Harian.

On Tuesday (March 31), South Klang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Lim Jit Huey confirmed that the suspect would be charged in connection with the incident.

On Sunday (March 29), a motorcyclist was killed after being hit by a car driven by an individual believed to be under the influence of alcohol and drugs in a three-vehicle accident on Jalan Raya Barat, Klang, at about 11.40am.

Initial investigations found that the car, driven by a man in his 20s, was believed to have overtaken several vehicles before colliding with the victim’s motorcycle.

As a result of the impact, the victim, a local man in his 30s, was thrown onto a car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following the incident, a man was arrested and remanded for four days to assist in the investigation.

ACP Lim said the case is being investigated under Section 44(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
