Man dies after being hit by car while crossing road


JOHOR BARU: A man died while receiving treatment after being struck by a car while crossing a road.

Johor Baru North OCPD Asst Comm Balveer Singh said the driver involved lodged a police report.

He said the incident occurred along Jalan Hang Jebat 27 in Skudai at about 7am on Friday (Oct 17).

“A 67 year old man was crossing when he was hit by a car driven by a 78 year old woman,” he said.

He said she was heading from Taman Mutiara Rini towards Taman Ungku Tun Aminah.

“The victim was pronounced dead while receiving treatment at Hospital Sultanah Aminah in Johor Baru on Saturday (Oct 18),” he said.

He said the cause of death was head injuries, while the driver was unharmed.

ACP Balveer said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

This section covers causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.

“I urge anyone with information to contact the investigating officer, Inspector Noor Azlina Abdul Raof, at 013 286 4878,” he added.
