Thunderstorm warning issued for six states as well as KL and Putrajaya


KUALA LUMPUR: Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected across six states as well as Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, with warnings in effect until 5pm on Monday (Oct 6).

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said the affected states were Kedah, Perak, Pahang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Johor.

In Kedah, the districts of Kulim and Bandar Baharu are on alert for severe weather.

In Perak, areas such as Larut, Matang Dan Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim are under the warning.

In Pahang, districts including Cameron Highlands, Raub, Bentong and Rompin are expected to be affected.

Selangor is anticipated to experience severe weather conditions, along with Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.

In Negeri Sembilan, areas such as Jelebu, Seremban, Kuala Pilah and Jempol are forecasted to be affected.

Johor is also expected to experience adverse conditions.

MetMalaysia issues these warnings when thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour are imminent or expected to last more than an hour.

These are short-term warnings, valid for no more than six hours from issuance.
