PAS supporters' wing has shown its value, says chief

ALOR SETAR: The PAS Non-Muslim Supporters' Wing (DHPP) has proven to be a strengthening force for the party despite obstacles and challenges, says its chief N. Balasubramaniam.

"We are not only communicators of political ideas, but also advocates of human values, justice, social development and progress.

"We are committed to being defenders of the oppressed, regardless of their background," he said during his winding-up speech at the 71st PAS Muktamar here on Tuesday (Sept16).

He said DHPP's struggle is firmly aligned with PAS’ mission to spread the true message of Islam, Rahmatan lil-‘Alamin (mercy for all creation).

He said Islam is not exclusively for the Malays, but for all humanity.

"It is a religion that commands justice and respect for the rights of every individual, regardless of race, creed, or origin.

He said PAS has long upheld this principle as the basis of its struggle, and DHPP, as part of PAS, will continue to bring this message to non-Muslim communities.

Balasubramaniam added that this year's Muktamar is a historic one for DHPP, which has been elevated to the status of an official wing.

"With the constitutional amendment approved last year and duly endorsed by the Registrar of Societies (ROS) in August, DHPP is now formally recognised as one of the five wings that will carry the struggle and victories of PAS into the future," he added.
