Inability to show loyalty to elected party leaders an emerging challenge, says Hadi

ALOR SETAR: The inability to show "wala’" (loyalty) to leadership has emerged as a major challenge, particularly in terms of allegiance to leaders elected through the party polls, says Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang.

The PAS president said the issue was not confined to PAS but was also prevalent in other political parties.

"The issue of loyalty to leaders is a very serious problem.

"There are those who want their leaders to follow their own preferences, their factional interests, or their personal views," he said during his windup speech at the 71st PAS Muktamar here on Tuesday (Sept 16).

Abdul Hadi, however, said the central leadership listens to input from all sides before making appointments, guided by pragmatism and historical considerations.

He said ultimately, it is the central leadership that makes the final decision with a broader perspective.

"Even within the muktamar, there will always be those who agree and those who disagree," he said.

The Marang MP took about two hours to deliver his speech to about 2,000 delegates who attended the last day of the Muktamar which officially began on Sept 11.
