PM urges UMS not to expel students involved in rally, says Zambry

PETALING JAYA: The Prime Minister has urged that the Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UMS) students involved in the recent Gempur Rasuah 2.0 rally not be expelled, says Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir.

"Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said they may have made a mistake but their future and studies are far more important and should be prioritised," the Higher Education Minister said in a Facebook post Tuesday (June 24).

Earlier, UMS vice-chancellor Kasim Mansor had said that 13 students from the university who were identified as having taken part in the rally could face disciplinary action, including suspension or expulsion, under the Universities and University Colleges Act 2012.
