Firefighters battle one-acre forest fire in Bandar Puchong Jaya

PETALING JAYA: A forest fire broke out near a restaurant along Jalan Helang 13 in Bandar Puchong Jaya early Tuesday (Aug 25), scorching an area of about one acre.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ashrul Riezal Asbar said the department received a distress call at 2.35am.

He said a team from the Puchong Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene seven minutes later and confirmed that a forest area was ablaze.

"Upon arrival, firefighters conducted a size-up and confirmed that a forest area of about one acre was on fire.

"Firefighters then used one 200-foot hose line and two auxiliary hose lines supplied by water from the fire engine's tank to put out the fire," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Aug 26).

The operation was conducted using the RECEO framework to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to neighboring areas.

No casualties were reported.
