Man feared drowned in Sg Chuah, SAR operation to resume tomorrow

KUALA LUMPUR: A local man in his 40s is feared drowned after being reportedly swept away in Sungai Chuah, Kajang, on Sunday (Oct 11) afternoon.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department operations assistant director Ashrul Riezal Asbar said the search and rescue (SAR) operation, which began Sunday, was suspended at 4.30pm on Monday (Oct 12) due to heavy rain and will resume on Tuesday (Oct 13).

He said the search was carried out using kayaks and boats, alongside search efforts along the riverbanks.

"The department's K9 tracker dog unit and police personnel are also involved in locating the victim at the scene," he said in a statement on Monday.

The Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 5.23pm on Sunday regarding a local man who was swept away in the river before disappearing from view.

The Kajang Fire and Rescue Station dispatched a team that arrived at the scene, located about four kilometres from the station, at 5.29pm, before the search operation was expanded with assistance from the Shah Alam and Port Klang stations. — Bernama
