A WOMAN in India nearly lost two million Rupees (RM99,000) worth of gold jewellery to a troop of monkeys looking for food at a temple, Makkal Osai reported.
The woman was on her way to a temple in Uttar Pradesh with her family when she took off her jewellery and kept them in a handbag for safekeeping.
As they were leaving the temple, the monkeys went close to the family and grabbed the bags they were carrying, looking for food.
Unfortunately one of the bags taken was the woman’s handbag with the jewellery and the panicked family began looking for the monkey with the bag and also alerted the police.
The monkey then discarded the bag of jewellery in a field nearby. It was recovered by the cops a few hours later and returned to the owner.
