Newborn rescued just before being buried alive

A YOUNG woman’s family in India helped deliver her baby at home and tried to bury the newborn later, Malaysia Nanban reported.

Vinotha, a 21-year-old nursing student in Pudukottai, Tamil Nadu, became pregnant out of wedlock.

With her training in nursing, the baby was delivered safely and then taken to a cemetery near the family’s home to be buried alive, seemingly with her agreement.

However, passers-by realised what was happening and notified the police, who arrived in time to rescue the child.

Both mother and child were then admitted to the hospital for treatment.

Police investigation found that Vinotha’s boyfriend Silambarasan, who is the father of the baby, had instigated her to get rid of their child. He was later arrested.
