Cops did not conduct any operations in Putrajaya on day of Pamela’s abduction, says KL police chief

KUALA LUMPUR: No police operations were conducted in Putrajaya on the day Datin Seri Pamela Ling Yueh was abducted, the police confirm.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said no police officers or personnel were involved in any type of operation in Putrajaya on April 9.

"Based on CCTV footage, we saw two men wearing police vests who were involved in the abduction.

"Usually, such vests are used in specific operations, but on that day, no specific operations were conducted in Putrajaya," he told reporters at KL police headquarters on Thursday (May 8).

Police believe the suspects were posing as police personnel during the abduction, Comm Rusdi said.

"Such vests can be bought in certain shops.

"However, we are exploring all angles in the investigation to eliminate various possibilities," he said.

On April 9, Ling was summoned to the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya to assist with an investigation under the MACC Act 2009 and the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing, and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act.

However, she reportedly went missing while on her way to the appointment. Her lawyer lodged a police report regarding her disappearance on the same day.

As of Sunday (May 4), no ransom demand had been made in connection with her disappearance.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain previously said Ling's husband was among those who could be a suspect in her disappearance.
