KUALA LUMPUR: The man suspected of dousing petrol on a lottery shop assistant and setting her on fire in Taman Pusat Kepong has been remanded for seven days, starting Wednesday (Aug 19).
Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus said the 59-year-old male suspect, who works as an e-hailing driver, was arrested on Tuesday (Aug 18) to assist in the investigation under Section 326 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt.
Comm Fadil said police also seized several items believed to be related to the incident, including a drink bottle containing a liquid suspected to be petrol, a helmet, a shirt, a Yamaha 135LC motorcycle, and a set of motorcycle keys.
"The suspect admitted to being involved in the incident due to dissatisfaction with the victim. He was found to have no prior criminal record," he said in a statement.
On Aug 9, a 62-year-old woman suffered burns to about 50 per cent of her body after being splashed with a liquid believed to be petrol and set on fire. – Bernama
