Cops investigating possibility of Pamela Ling abducted by police impersonators

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are investigating the possibility that Datin Seri Pamela Ling Yueh was abducted by police personnel or those posing as police, says Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.

The Inspector-General of Police said this after certain facts were obtained from an e-hailing driver who had transported Pamela to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters on April 9.

"We are aware of the allegation that Pamela was abducted by individuals wearing police vests, and further investigation is being conducted.

"We are also investigating the possibility that she was abducted by those posing as policemen," he confirmed when contacted on Monday (May 5).

He added that the police are also checking CCTV footage at the location where she was allegedly abducted.

"We are in the midst of collecting all statements and information from several witnesses, including the e-hailing driver," he said.

Razarudin said the police could not reveal more details of the investigation as it could compromise any plans or follow-up action that must be taken in the case.

"I have instructed the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to assist Kuala Lumpur police in investigating this case and to track down Pamela.

"We will review all facts and leads that could assist in tracking down Pamela," he said.

The IGP refused to comment on whether Pamela's abduction was planned and committed by certain parties seeking her wealth and assets.

However, he did not rule out the possibility that deliberate action was committed to pin the blame on the MACC or the police.
