Cops investigate disappearance of woman en route to give statement at MACC


KUALA LUMPUR: The disappearance of Pamela Ling, 42, who was scheduled to give her statement at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), is being investigated as a kidnapping, according to police.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said that the woman had been abducted on April 9.

“She was scheduled to give a statement regarding an investigation by the MACC. The MACC had also confirmed her absence,” he said.

He added that a police report was made by the victim’s lawyer in Seri Kembangan.

“Statements from several witnesses, including MACC officers and the lawyer, have also been recorded. Investigations are ongoing,” Comm Rusdi said.

According to Pamela’s brother, Simon, the family has been made to understand that the e-hailing car that Pamela was travelling in on the day of her disappearance was intercepted by three unidentified vehicles, and she was instructed to get into one of them.
