Putra Heights inferno: Power, telecommunication services restored by April 11, says S'gor exco rep

SUBANG JAYA: Power and telecommunication services will be fully restored in houses affected by the Putra Heights gas pipeline fire by Friday (April 11).

Selangor infrastructure and agriculture committee chairman Datuk Izham Hashim said it will involve all houses except for the ones severely damaged by the fire.

"The respective utilities providers have given assurances that power and telecommunications, including Unifi services, will be restored by Friday," he told a press conference at the incident operation centre on Tuesday (April 8).

He said power and telecommunication could not be restored to badly damaged houses due to damage to their wiring and other infrastructure.

"The investigation into the cause of the incident is still ongoing.

"The Selangor Mentri Besar will disclose details once we receive conclusive findings," he said.

Comprehensive measures to improve the safety of the gas pipeline could only be implemented once the cause of the fire has been determined, he said.

"Our ultimate goal is to ensure such incident does not happen again.

"However, the investigation will take time as it involves various aspects," he said.

It was reported that the technical investigation into the recent Putra Heights gas pipeline fire will only start on April 15 after the ground at the site is stabilised, according to Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

The Selangor Mentri Besar added that work to strengthen and stabilise the site started on Monday (April 7).
