Putra Heights inferno: 8,000 residential premises, 300 factories affected by gas supply disruption

SUBANG JAYA: Power stations and some 8,000 residential and commercial premises including 300 factories are affected by the gas supply disruption following the gas pipeline fire at Putra Heights.

Selangor Infrastructure and Agriculture committee chairman Datuk Izham Hashim said 330 million cubic feet of gas are needed daily for the affected areas.

"200 million cubic feet of gas are needed for the power stations while 130 million cubic feet are for the remaining areas.

"We will discuss with Gas Malaysia and PETRONAS to see how we can minimise the impact on the affected areas," he told a press conference at the incident operation centre on Tuesday (April 8).

He said the four affected power stations are the Connaught Bridge Power Station, the Pulau Indah Power Station, the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz (KEV) Power Station and the Putrajaya Power.

"However, two of the stations can resort to alternative sources such as coal and oil," he said.
