Brunei signs contract with Sinohydro Corp for Phase 2 of power station project

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Xinhua): Brunei's Department of Electrical Services (DES) at the Prime Minister's Office has signed a contract with Sinohydro Corporation Limited for the construction of Phase 2 of the Bukit Panggal Combined Cycle Gas Turbines Power Station.

This project represents a strategic and important development under Brunei Darussalam's 12th National Development Plan and strengthens the nation's electricity supply.

It also reinforces national efforts towards achieving the aspirations of Brunei Vision 2035, particularly in ensuring a resilient, efficient and sustainable energy sector for the future.

The project will increase the national generation capacity by an additional 215 megawatts above the existing capacity, and will contribute towards achieving the national power generation efficiency level of at least 50 per cent, compared to the current average efficiency level of less than 30 per cent. -- Xinhua
