Kelantan Health Dept records 23 fireworks-related injuries


KOTA BARU: A total of 23 firecracker-related injuries were recorded as of March 27, with 13 victims still hospitalised, says Kelantan Health Department director Datuk Dr Zaini Hussin.

The latest incident was a 12 year-old boy in Tumpat who severely injured his left hand and face, said Dr Zaini.

"The incident occurred around 3.30pm when the victim was playing with modified firecrackers with two friends," he added.

All 23 cases involved victims aged 15 and below. Aside from the 13 victims still hospitalised, the rest received outpatient treatment.

"The Jeli Hospital recorded five cases, followed by Tanah Merah Hospital, Pasir Mas Hospital and Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital in Kota Baru with three cases each.

"There are two cases reported at the Bachok Hospital, Tengku Anis Hospital in Pasir Puteh, Machang Hospital and Gua Musang Hospital, while Tumpat Hospital has one case," he said. – Bernama
