Razman Zakaria referred to Rights and Privilege Committee for alleged incitement and slander

IPOH: Opposition leader Razman Zakaria has been referred to the Rights and Privilege Committee over alleged slander and racially charged remarks.

Speaker Datuk Mohammad Zahir Abdul Khalid made the ruling under provision 40(3) of the Standing Order after the motion was tabled by Jason Ng (PH- Astaka) at the sitting on Wednesday. (Dec 4)

The motion was supported by Wong May Ing (PH- Pantai Remis).

On Dec 2, Razman (PN- Gunung Semanggol) issued a statement during the assembly sitting stating that Malaysian citizens had raised Chinese national flags during an event held in Teluk Intan on Oct 24.

In the motion tabled, Ng said based on media reports, and confirmation from the police, it had been confirmed that the 17 Chinese nationals who were involved in the Guan Gong celebration had raised the foreign flags during the procession.

In the sitting on Wednesday, a heated exchange took place between PAS and DAP assemblymen over the issue.

Ng said in addition, Razman had also made malicious assumptions about Teluk Intan MP Nga Kor Ming and Pasir Berdamar assemblyman Woo Kah Leong by attempting to link them with the programme.

“Both of them were not even present during that programme.

“Razman also issued a racist statement in the August house by stating that they should all stand up against traitors who bring foreigners to fly foreign flags in our country,” he stated in his motion.
