Perak MB welcomes Razman back to state assembly after six-month suspension


IPOH: Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad has welcomed Opposition leader Razman Zakaria back to the state legislative assembly after a six-month suspension.

Saarani extended his greeting at the start of the assembly meeting on Tuesday (Nov 25), acknowledging the Gunung Semanggol assemblyman’s return.

"I would like to take this opportunity to welcome the Opposition leader back to resume his duties," he said.

Razman, the former Perak PAS commissioner, was suspended on April 16.

His suspension followed a motion by Ong Boon Piow (PH-Bercham), who accused him of making slanderous and racially provocative statements.

The comments were made during a Dec 2 sitting, when Razman claimed that Malaysian citizens had raised Chinese national flags at an event in Teluk Intan.

Razman also stepped down as state PAS commissioner on Sept 18, with Bagan Serai MP Datuk Seri Idris Ahmad taking his place.
