PETALING JAYA: The death of Raub MCA chairman Tan Sri Lim Sing is a loss not only to the division, but also to MCA in Pahang, says party secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon.
Lim, who was also known as Tan Sri Lam Kam Sang, died at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre at 2.09pm on Sunday (Oct 18). He was 81.
Chong, who is also Pahang MCA chairman, said Lim had played an active role in party affairs for many years and made significant contributions to the party and the local community.
“His commitment to the party, service to the community and close friendship with fellow members will be remembered,” Chong said in a Facebook post.
He said Lim worked alongside party members to serve the people and support development in the area.
“Whether in party work, community service or local development, he devoted much time and effort,” he said.
Chong conveyed his condolences to Lim’s family on behalf of Pahang MCA.
A former senator, Lim was also an executive adviser to Pahang MCA. Beyond politics, Lim was a respected business leader who played a key role in representing Chinese businesses at national and regional levels.
He served as the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia deputy president and vice-president, and the East Coast Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation president.
Lim also led the Pahang Timber Association and the Lipis Chinese Chamber of Commerce, served as vice-president of the Pahang Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and chaired the board of governors of Jelai Valley Chinese Primary School.
