Army transporter crashed due to slippery, wet conditions on Karak Highway, say cops


KUALA LUMPUR: The accident involving an armoured vehicle transporter from the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) on the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway last Thursday (Nov 7) was attributed to slippery and wet road conditions, says Gombak OCPD Asst Comm Noor Ariffin Mohamad Nasir.

An initial investigation revealed that the road conditions caused the driver, who was en route from Kem Batu 5, Mentakab, Pahang, to Kem Syed Sirajuddin, Gemas, Negeri Sembilan, to skid and collide with the metal road barrier.

"The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," said ACP Noor Ariffin in a statement on Thursday (Nov 14).

On Nov 7, a video circulated widely on social media showing an Armed Forces transporter carrying two armoured vehicles that skidded and fell into the opposite lane at KM35.3 of the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway heading towards Bentong.
