Elderly couple killed in Teluk Intan accident


IPOH: An elderly couple have been killed and another injured in an accident involving two cars at Batu 5, Jalan Maharajalela in Teluk Intan.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the victims, both 70, were pronounced dead at the scene by health personnel.

"A 63-year-old man driving another car sustained injuries to his hands and legs.

"We received an emergency call regarding the incident at 2.40pm on Saturday (May 2) and firefighters from the arrived at the scene at 3.07pm," he said in a statement.

He said rescuers used hydraulic rescue tools to remove all three victims from the vehicles.

"The injured victim was handed over to the health personnel for further treatment, while the deceased were handed over to the police for further action," he said.

He added that the operation concluded at 4.20pm.
