Rembau District Office orders eviction of official residence following appointment of new Undang

REMBAU: The Rembau District and Land Office has ordered the immediate vacation of the official residence and Balai Undang Luak Rembau following the proclamation of a new Undang.

The eviction notice, dated June 29, was issued after Datuk Sedia Raja Hassan Ab Hamid was proclaimed the 22nd Undang Luak Rembau on Saturday (June 27).

The post had been vacant since the death of the previous Undang, Datuk Muhamad Sharip Othman, on May 15, 2024.

Datuk Abd Rahim Yasin was reported to have been appointed the 22nd Undang in August last year.

However, his appointment was later found to be invalid as it did not comply with the customary processes and procedures required for the selection of an Undang.

The latest development comes two months after the state secretary's office issued a similar eviction notice to Datuk Seri Mubarak Dohak, ordering him to vacate the official residence and Balai Undang Luak Sungei Ujong.

The April 30 notice followed a decision by the Dewan Keadilan dan Undang during a special sitting on April 17 to remove Mubarak as the Undang Luak Sungei Ujong.
