JOHOR BARU: Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi has met with the state's top cops to express his appreciation for their efforts in rescuing six-year-old Albertine Leo Jia Hui.

He said that to appreciate the efforts from the police in finding and saving Albertine, he personally met with Johor police chief Comm M. Kumar to express his thanks at the Child Interview Centre (CIC) in Gelang Patah.

“The police are still investigating this case. However, I would like to say that Albertine is in a good condition and she is safe in the arms of her family.

“The relentless dedication and commitment of the police is a symbol of their sincerity in maintaining the peace and security of our state,” he said in a Facebook post on Thursday (July 25).

Onn Hafiz added that he was confident that with the enthusiasm and efficiency exhibited by the police, Malaysia would definitely continue to be peaceful and prosperous.

“May their efforts and sacrifices always be blessed and praised by all Malaysians,” he added

Albertine was reported missing during a Bon Odori event at Eco Galleria in Iskandar Puteri last Saturday (July 20).

She was later found at a budget hotel in Batang Kali, Selangor on Tuesday (July 23), some 370km away from where she was last seen.

Five suspects had been arrested by the police on Monday and Tuesday, including a 31-year-old man who was found in the same budget hotel room as the girl.
