Cabinet reshuffle: EPF CEO Amir Hamzah Azizan appointed as Finance Minister II


PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan has been appointed as the Second Finance Minister in Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s latest Cabinet lineup.

The appointment of the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) chief executive officer was announced by Anwar at the Prime Minister’s Office in Putrajaya on Tuesday (Dec 12).

Earlier on Tuesday (Dec 12), Amir was sworn in as a senator at the Dewan Negara.

Former deputy education minister Lim Hui Ying has been appointed as the new Deputy Finance Minister; she is the sister of former finance minister Lim Guan Eng.

Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan was the former deputy finance minister, and has since been appointed as the new Deputy Works Minister.

Meanwhile, V Sivakumar was also dropped as the Human Resources Minister and he was replaced by former deputy finance minister Steven Sim.

The new Deputy Human Resources Minister is Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad.

The Cabinet formed by the unity government in December last year consists of 28 ministers and 27 deputy ministers, including the Prime Minister and two deputy prime ministers.
