Cabinet reshuffle: New ministers, deputies eager to hit the ground running

PETALING JAYA: Newly-appointed ministers in the reshuffled Cabinet line-up announced on Tuesday (Dec 12) are eager to accept the new challenge and start their respective jobs soon.

Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad who is making a comeback as Health Minister took to X (formerly Twitter) to respond to numerous congratulations sent to him on the social media platform.

He said after about a year of rest, he was ready to hit the ground running.

“(After) 12 months of decent recess or hiatus of sort, ready to bounce back. Thank you so much for the opportunity PMX @anwaribrahim (Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim,” he said in his post on Tuesday (Dec 12).

Deputy Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Datuk Ramanan Ramakrishnan, meanwhile, said he will meet with his Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick to obtain his advice and opinion.

“We need to work together as a team to achieve success,” the Sungai Buloh MP said in a statement shortly after his appointment was announced.

Ramanan also expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for his appointment.

“This is a major recognition for myself. I will do my best to serve as the deputy minister for the ministry,” he added.

Incoming Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying said she is thankful to Anwar for allowing her the chance to help the country develop further.

Lim, who was formerly the deputy education minister, said while her new appointment will be a challenge, she is looking forward to fulfilling the responsibilities and mandate given.

“I would also like to thank the DAP leadership, especially secretary-general Anthony Loke who suggested my name to be appointed as a deputy minister.

“The appointment is a new challenge for me and I will do my best to fulfil this mandate based on the vision and principles of the unity government and the Prime Minister

“The people have high hopes on the ministers and deputy ministers as the unity government is given the responsibility to protect the wellbeing of the public and the country.

“I will carry this trust and responsibility to the best of my ability and give priority, high commitment and the best service to all Malaysians,” she wrote on Facebook.
