Cabinet reshuffle: Portfolio change for four Sabah deputy ministers, one dropped


KOTA KINABALU: Four Sabah deputy ministers have had their portfolios shuffled while another was dropped from the new federal Cabinet line-up on Tuesday (Dec 12).

The Cabinet reshuffle announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also saw the Sabah and Sarawak Affairs Ministry under the Prime Minister's department scrapped.

Papar MP Datuk Armizan Ali was the minister in charge of Sabah, Sarawak Affairs and special functions, and is now the new Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister.

The four deputy ministers whose portfolios were shuffled are Datuk Mohd Yusof Apdal (Science, Technology and Innovation), Datuk Chan Foong Hin (Plantation and Commodities) who replaced Datuk Siti Aminah Aching, Datuk Mustapha Sakmud (Higher Education), and Datuk Arthur Kurup (Agriculture and Food Security).

Beaufort MP Datuk Siti Aminah Aching is no longer in the Cabinet.

Chan, the MP for Kota Kinabalu, was previously deputy agriculture and food security minister while Sepanggar MP Mustapha was the deputy human resources minister.

Pensiangan MP Arthur was former deputy science, technology and innovation minister.
