Cabinet reshuffle: Johari Ghani new Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister


PUTRAJAYA: Titiwangsa MP Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani has been appointed as the new Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister in Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s latest Cabinet lineup.

Johari will be replacing Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, and the new Deputy Plantation Industries and Commodities minister will be Datuk Chan Foong Hin.

Chan was formerly the deputy agriculture and food security minister.

Meanwhile, Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu remains as the Agriculture and Food Security Minister, while his new deputy is Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup.

Kurup was formerly the deputy science, innovation and technology minister.

Chang Lih Kang remains the Science, Innovation and Technology Minister and his deputy is now Datuk Mohamad Yusof Apdal.

Previously, Mohamad Yusof was the deputy higher education minister.

Other changes in Anwar’s Cabinet are Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu, who is now the newly appointed Deputy Local Government Minister.

Aiman Athirah was formerly the deputy women, family and community development minister.

Anwar’s first Cabinet line up unveiled in December last year had 28 ministers and 27 deputy ministers.

The newly appointed ministers and deputies are expected to be sworn in at Istana Negara at 2.30pm on Tuesday (Dec 12).
