Time to move on from the past, says Loke on Umno Youth’s call for DAP to apologise

KUALA LUMPUR: It is time for Umno and DAP leaders to move on from their past of being political adversaries, says Anthony Loke.

The DAP secretary-general said it was normal for political leaders to have different views.

“As said, I agree with the Umno president that we should forget the past for the nation.

“We need to move on from being political rivals or enemies,” said Loke to reporters when met before leaving the Umno general assembly at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) on Friday (June 9).

Loke also thanked Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi for inviting all leaders of component parties in the unity government to attend the Umno general assembly.

“This is my first time, as well as DAP leaders, to attend the Umno general assembly.

“Because we have cooperated politically after GE15, therefore we welcome all invitations as a form of respect to the unity government,” added Loke.

Loke also said the previous political rivalry between Umno and DAP has ended since the unity government was formed in December last year.

“Most importantly, we move forward and we have various challenges in politics, national development and economy ahead for us,” added Loke.

Various leaders were seen at WTCKL on Friday, among them Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Parti Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, Amanah president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, among others.

The Umno general assembly that begun on Wednesday (June 7) will conclude on Saturday (June 10).
