Tian Chua confirms he filed appeal against sacking from PKR

PETALING JAYA: Expelled former PKR vice president Chua Tian Chang (pic), better known as Tian Chua, has confirmed that he filed a formal appeal against his sacking.

“Yes I have. (A) long time ago, according to the deadline set by the party,” he told The Star when contacted on Friday (March 17).

PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail had told a press conference on Thursday (March 16) that its disciplinary board had yet to inform the central leadership council of any decisions on appeals by expelled members.

He said the board is going through the appeal process and will table its decision with the leadership council which, he added, was meeting on Friday.

Former Batu MP Chua was sacked in January for contesting as an independent against PKR in GE15.

He unsuccessfully ran against his successor and incumbent P. Prabakaran, who was the party's candidate.

It was also reported that Chua had said he hoped that PKR chief and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim would forgive him.

Four division leaders – Puah Chee Haur (Parit Buntar), M Mohganan (Taiping), Nur Khairunisa Abdullah (Sadong Jaya) and Ahmad Tarmizi Ghazali (Gopeng) – were also sacked.
